Vintage 1950’s Medico Standard Select Estate Pipe.
A vintage, quality estate pipe in the straight billiard shape by renowned U.S. pipe makers Medico. Stamped “Medico” and “Standard Select Briar” to the shank. Stamped “F” to the saddle stem – most commonly indicates that the stem was designed to accept a Medico paper filter. In overall good vintage condition. Kindly view images above for more detail.
Introduced by S.M. Frank & Co. in 1933, Medico pipes became famous for their innovative paper filter system, designed to provide a cooler, drier smoke. Built as durable, affordable briar pipes for everyday smokers, Medico earned a reputation for dependable performance and remains one of America’s longest-running pipe brands. Vintage briar Medico pipesespecially early examples made before the introduction of Brylon in 1966are appreciated by collectors for their classic styling, solid craftsmanship, and connection to the golden age of American pipe making.
